Take one part Megan Mullally, one part Mariska Hargitay, add a dash of Tina Fey, and dress it all up in some JC Penney, and you have Governor Sarah Palin, the newest face in the 2008 Presidential Elections. Tapped to serve as John McCain’s vice presidential running mate, Ms. Palin is a stranger to a good many people, including me, and so in an effort to educate myself, I did what any curious blogger would do: no, not read her bio (although I did eventually do that). Instead I dove into Google Image Search and found a veritable treasure trove of Palin pics. I present to you my very favorites.

I like this one. It seems to say, “Hey, I’m a little sassy, but I’m not too good for TJ Maxx.”

“I’m listening, but I’m also thinking about sensible dinner choices.”

“And that is why I propose to make Maxwell House the official coffee of the Alaskan government.”

“I killed thirty huskies to make this outfit. It was a great Iditarod.”

“I object to the insinuation, and I refuse to discuss this further until I receive a formal apology from Lean Cuisine.”

  1. haha!
Great captions-don’t see how Erica can mistaken you being funny to disliking Sarah…and I can’t believe you didn’t include any of her beauty pageant photos

  2. I was totally gettin’ a Mariska Hargitay vibe off of her this morning. But also some Tina Fey, now that you mention it.

  3. I am from Alaska and a huge Palin supporter!!! Go Sarah! I think this is an amazing woman and hope the rest of America will agree!
I love your picture choices and the captions were great. This is my favorite “I’m listening, but I’m also thinking about sensible dinner choices.” LOL!!

  4. Wonder if she’s a member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit 2…

  5. I actually thought the second picture was Tina Fey when it first loaded. It’s too bad she’s no longer on SNL, because I’m sure she would make for a hilarious Sarah Palin.

  6. She seems like a total bitch. I mean, at least Hillary looks like a bitch, but Palin seems so nice. Then, when you least expect it, she cuts you. I bet she kicks polar bears for fun.

  7. i love that you google imaged her, because that is the first thing i did too. i feel slightly less shallow now….or at least, less alone in my shallowness. thank you b-side, from the not very deep bottom of my heart.

  8. You know what, I actually didn’t take it from your site, but whoever I did take it from, took it from yours. But I will be happy to post a credit!

  9. Color me Palin
All of a sudden, Im interested in McCain. Probably because there’s FINALLY something else to look at other than his jowels.
not saying Im voting for him though, but good job buddy!

  10. Sorry, but someone who names her kids Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig does not seem stable enough to be the second in command. I’m not saying anything about her mothering skills, just pointing out that those names are a little wacky.

  11. Not only are you smokin’ hot with your new haircut, B, but you are right on the money with your description and photos of Palin. This whole nomination cracks me up–I cannot believe it is actually happening. I have been desperate for a woman to get a nomination, but this is not how I envisioned it.

  12. Jack,
Sorry to be a little snarky but the internet isn’t about credit – I know that. But some people do like to at least receive attribution. I’m not trying to sell my photo. I just would like websites to give me (and other photographers and writers) attribution when something is used. Thankfully bsideblog was happy to add it. Some of the bigger sites that have used it seem to be ignoring my request. The source photo for the cropped image is even more amusing… http://www.zieak.com/2007/05/21/governor-sarah-palin-and-the-vikings-and-valkyries
Besides, a little goodwill and linking is the best way for folks like me to keep coming back to sites like this. So thanks for the link!

  13. Whatever anyone thinks of her, I do admire the creative names she and her husband named their children. Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig are great names with distinction — dignified yet different from the boring, common names most poor kids are given. I have little patience with famous parents who stick their offspring with names like Beatrice, Eunice or Eunicia, Harry, and other old, boring names, probably from long-dead ancestors who don’t have to live with those old names in a modern world. Let’s give the living great names they can enjoy for themselves and which will enhance their own lives and never mind honoring long-dead relatives who have already lived theirs.
