A few weeks ago, I headed off to local Middle Eastern restaurant / institution Marouch for the first time to enjoy some hummus, pita, and various other delectable treats from the Fertile Crescent. Joining me in the fun was my old friend and Metromix contributor Katherine Spiers, who for the past two years or so had been goading me into trying this fabled eatery. It was worth the wait. Photos of our culinary adventure after the jump.

"Delicious" doesn't even begin to describe this silky, amazing hummus.

Fattouch: a surprisingly refreshing salad of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers, among other things. Did somebody say LOVELY?

Kind of the best ever. At Kat's recommendation, we got the Yogurt Kebab, which is pretty self explanatory. So very excellent.

We also got some shawarma, which was very good, but not necessarily any better than what you'd get at Zankou Chicken, which incidentally is cheaper.

Here's Kat enjoying her meal. Let me tell you, she's having the goddamn time of her life.

And here's me clapping along to someone's birthday celebration. It was a festive affair.
So that's it. I hope to go back and explore the menu further. To find out more about the restaurant, click here, but be warned that the site features softcore porn music.

Fattouch is the greatest thing ever. I haven't had it (bragging begins... NOW) since I was in Egypt, and I don't know if I can bear to try it in the United States. But it looks damn good in that picture.
DAMN! That hummus looks so good!!! Now I have to go get Emily's Lebanese Deli for dinner. (Or as we like to call it... Emily's Lesbian Deli. I know, we are oh-so clever).
You would think that a salad would have a better name than FATtouch. Maybe its the salad dressing...
Looks delicious!
Hey Derder...
where do you live? There's an Emily's Lebanese right down the street from where I live in the Detroit 'burbs.
Unless Emily is a popular Lebanese name, which coincidentally is also the name for their deli's of Lebanese fare?!?!?!?
Wow! That's weird. I'm in Minneapolis. I'll mention it to the owners and see if they own several or if it's just a coinkeedink.
Hmm...I should NOT have looked at those pictures as I sit here with a giant hunger waiting for it to be the lunching hour. DRAT! Now I want pita and hummus.
hmm that's weird/cool derder.
Well if I ever find myself in Minneapolis I must preform an Emily's FACEOFF...see which one is better :)
