Aaaaand SCENE.
It's official. After his knee buckled yesterday much like his team did in the Super Bowl, Tom Brady is out for the season. I believe this now constitutes the single worst two-game stretch of the Patriot Nation.
Somewhere in Hollywood, IndianJones is quietly weeping.

Yippee!
Yippee? Regardless of whether you are a fan of the team or not, it's sickening to see the reactions to Brady's injury. It's well documented that players in the NFL have great respect for one another, yet some act as though a game is a world war. It's tacky and reprehensible to cheer when someone is injured, and just because they happen to be an athlete on a team you may not like doesn't justify it.
And for the record, no, I am not a Pats fan. Just don't feel the need to or see the point in celebrating someone else's misfortune.
The "some" I referred to that consider the games a battle in a world war are fans.
OMG! Not you too!!!! I got up early this morning to catch highlights from Sunday's games on ESPN, and they spent 30 d&$%m minutes talking about Tom Brady and his knee. WTF...hello, there were other games played on Sunday in which no one was injured. It's not the end of the world...oh, wait a minute...it is for the Patriot fans. Sweet...Are you ready for some Football!!! oh, btw, I love you bside!!

Thank you Alli. I always welcome sports etiquette classes from people I don't know.
Obviously my celebration is a joke. I don't like Tom Brady but I would never, ever wish him ill. He's a good QB but I would be lying if I said I didn't have an evil laugh yesterday.
Always amused, I have to agree with you-the Chiefs QB, Brody Croyle was also knocked out of the game yesterday, by what some might say was a retaliation hit from a Patriot. Granted, he's not a marquee player, and the Chiefs do suck (I can say that as a lifelong fan), but there are other players getting hurt and other games being played.
SERVES HIM RIGHT!
-republican delegates upon learning of tawn bradys injury, AND that he's pro choice.
I'm not glad that Tom Brady got as seriously hurt as he did, but GODDAMN, I'm happy he's not playing this year and I'm elated it crushed the Super Bowl dreams of Pats fans everywhere. During the '06 post-season, I was at Qualcomm Stadium for the Chargers/Pats matchup and almost came to blows with some punkass Pats fan in front of me. I would have paid money to see the look on that bitch's face when she found out it's now all up to Matt Cassel.
yeah Snacky- I agree. Tom Brady is the biggest douchenozzle in the NFL, and the source of my ire for many years now. However- I didn't cheer when I found out that he had a season ending inury, but I think that the Pats (and their fans) will certainly be knocked down a few levels now to know that he isn't as invincible as they thought. If they do well without him, then they ARE a better team than most thought. As a Steelers fan though- I WILL be looking toward our game with NE with much less trepidation now that Brady is out of the picture.
And somewhere Bridget Moynahan considers that voodoo doll she bought as a wise investment.
A few things... many teams have had to deal with injuries to star players. As a long-suffering Eagles fan, I watched my team play without Randall Cunningham in 1991 when they were a very, very good team. I survived. And I survived again 2 yrs ago when D'Nabb went down too.
Two more points; one, the Pats are still good and they system (cheating aside) will win them enuogh games to make the playoffs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Brady phenomenon takes a hit this year when Matt Was-a-backup-in-COLLEGE Cassells exceeds all expectations.
And two, cheering injuries is never cool unless it's Michael cokehead hooker loving asshole Irvin on the concrete at the Vet with Deion Sanders jumping around like the idiot he is. I defend cheering that injury to this day.
Gah! I typed a whole entry and forgot to do the Captcha and it's gone. Blah.
Anyhoo....the short version is....I am a Pats fan, I knew one day the golden boy would fall. These things don't go on forever.
I think this is good for Cassell. The guy needed a MAJOR confidence boost and this will be good for him. You know, to actually get to PLAY.
Some of the hardcore NE fans are rather scary. There is really no excuse for them and I apologize.
I think T. Brady is dreamy, so I'm sad to see him hurt, but I am glad that this may play out to help my imaginary boyfriend, Brett Favre.
