On May 21, 2008 — six months ago to the day — David Cook pulled an upset win over David Archuleta on American Idol and simultaneously broke the hearts of adolescent girls nationwide. Many of us were lucky to be far, far away from any roving tweens, and as such, we were spared the ear-piercing sounds of their lamentations. I have a hunch that the parents recorded this little piece of drama specifically for that purpose. Rubbing the kids' noses in piles of irrefutable evidence is one of the biggest pleasures of parenthood for me.
I just happened to have a song from the There Will Be Blood soundtrack playing on my laptop as I watched this. It made this even more poignant, dramatic and pathetic all at the same time.
This is why women have such a bad reputation for over reaction. I honestly think we could get rid of that issue if we had selective tweener abortions. Future generations could break through the true ceiling if we took out those of our gender who offend our senses and act like srupid idiots.
I also, upon viewing this little gem, understand the girl in the 'AERO SURF' three quarter sleeve tee, not only was happy on the inside David Cook won, she secretly voted for him for hours in end. Watch her face and tell me it isn't true. She should watch her back because the crazies will kill her if the find out.
