And Now A Message From The Biggest Asshole Publicist A Korean Taco Truck Could Possibly Hire

By B-Side in

This enrages me. The lovely Liz at Food, She Thought sent a simple email to the publicist for Kogi's Taco Truck (a Korean-BBQ-on-wheels thing here in Los Angeles), and the response was absolutely outrageous. Even if everything this PR person had said was true, there's no good reason for he or she to have actually said it. Memo to publicists: when you have to do damage control for your damage control peeps, that's a bad thing.

Check out the ridiculousness here.

Has anyone checked to see if Kogi is being run by North Korea?

that publicist, while having a sad life--isnt entirely out of line.

i side with her. NOT the blogger, who wrote an amateur and inappropriate inquiry to begin with.

i'm with you, jash puppy.

plus, who hasn't had a prolonged fester that they needed to overcome by ripping someone a new one.

Ah, but just because the query was amateurish and made this publicist want to snap doesn't mean it was smart for her to do so.

The best route would have been to have avoided the email altogether. Or written a friendly blow-off, something like "we're unable to do an interview at this time, but thanks for visiting our taco truck" etc. etc.

on the flip side is that the blogger should have never sent something to amateurish and potentially offensive to begin with.

and so the logic circle begins.

When did Kelly Cutrone start doing PR for Kogi?

I simply love when people spend 20 minutes to emphasize that they simply do not have time for trivial things.

A prolonged fester. Top drawer wordage, Sly!

The Countess would be displeased at the rudeness of the response. Of course she really hates getting bad email these days.

How exactly does this help the publicist's client or employer? A publicist is paid to make someone/something look good, period, and this is a major fail.

Ginny would cut those bitches in a candy-cane second.

Amateur or no, if someone is interested in you, you either accept their questions joyfully, or graciously decline.

It's like if some dumb, attractive jackass comes up to you in a bar and feebly tries to hit on you, only bitches say, "Yeah right, you dipshit." Girls who have respect for others smile politely and say they've got a boyfriend or whatever.

And like B-Side said, they could have just ignored the email. Problem solved. No need to tear into the poor woman who is trying to learn.

NOW WHERE'S MY GD HILLS RECRAP?!!!??!! Sound bite THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That PR person's name would be Alice Shin, younger sister of one of the founders.

And she's pretty freak'in stupid for a grad student if she handles her "PR" like that.

I'm with the publicist. The e-mail that the blogger sent is totally unprofessional and insulting. The publicist probably should have just ignored it, but hey, at least she has balls.
