"Eat My Blog" Charity Bake Sale a Rousing Success!

DSC09569.jpg

Last week I posted something about “Eat My Blog,” which was a charity bake sale put on by a bunch of bloggers in the Los Angeles area. I’m proud to report that according to organizer Cathy Danh from gas•tron•o•my, the event raised over $3,000! That’s kind of insane. I didn’t think bake sales could even raise a fraction of that, but I suppose one should never underestimate the power of sugary baked goods. Nevertheless, the event was such a hit that there are already tentative plans for a second one in a few months. Will keep you all updated…
After the jump, a few pics from the bake sale.

My humble contribution: blondies. Here are three batches, uncut.

By the time I showed up at the bake sale at 1 PM, this was all that was left.

I had a giddy sense of joy every time someone bought one.

Amazingly, by 1 PM, about three quarters of the inventory had sold out. Apparently mine were NOT the must-have item I had initially thought they were.

The event actually drew a surprisingly large amount of foot traffic. Who knew that people walked in LA? Especially on a frigid 65 degree day with cloud cover!

As you can see, I’m not helping in any way. Just taking pictures. I did, however, assemble a few cardboard boxes.

Someone made Mozza’s famous butterscotch budino, as attempted here.

The blondies again.

This lucky couple bought a cake contributed by the Los Angeles Times test kitchen. Heroes of the day!

The bake sale gods were smiling upon us on Saturday.
Will you please get LC or her mother to come next time? Come on, B!

I wouldn’t have bought your blondies because they had nuts in them. I don’t like nuts in things. But they did look yummy and I probably would have at least thought about buying them until I looked at the item description.
Do you think it was because those cookies and that lumpy box ruined the presentation??

    Hooray! We have pictures!
What a great idea that is. I wish someone in San Diego would do the same.
Did your Blondies finally sell out?
I continue to enjoy your photos and comments. They brighten my day every time.
