Make Your Own Shamrock Shake!

Crazy as it might sound, I’d never tasted one of McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes prior to last year. I can’t say that I was totally won over by it, but I know many people have been, and now comes this glorious and probably obvious news: you can make a Shamrock Shake at home!

According to Kelsey Banfield of Babble.com (by way of Yahoo), there is a recipe out there that comes thisclose to replicating the McDonald’s original.

Recipe after the jump. Also, please note that you will probably kick yourself for not being able to figure it out on your own.

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake Copycat Recipe
(makes 1 giant shake, or 2 generously sized shakes)

Ingredients:
3 cups good quality vanilla ice cream
1 3/4 cups 1% milk
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Green food coloring, if desired

Directions:
Blend all ingredients in a blender until completely thick and smooth. Pour into glasses and serve!

So what do you think? Try out this recipe and let me know how it fares. Or better yet… maybe I’ll take it on.

  1. It tastes better than a Shamrock Shake. Be careful with the peppermint extract. I used a little too much on the first attempt and made Altoid Shakes!

  2. Today; while I was at work; my sister stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop; just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now broken and she has 83 views.. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone! Weatherford Roofing & Exteriors, 802 W.
